  6. Learn selection criteria alternatives - teach yourself from the above sources and the internet. Find and place confidence in a mentor or use a consultant. New Alpaca breeders should understand it takes years to be able to understand what defines a good Alpaca, to learn the niches within the Australian and world Alpaca industry and how to select and breed to satisfy market demands. It also takes promotional and sales skills to achieve inventory turnover. It's important to develop herd plans and a business plan. All of the above is much easier if you can find an experienced mentor within the industry who you feel comfortable with. After all, why reinvent the wheel?

N.B. All breeding stock are registered with the Australian Alpaca Association.

The Purchaser agrees that:

1. 20% deposit is to be paid on signing contract.

2. The balance is to be paid within 14 days unless otherwise agreed.

3. Deposit is to be fully refunded if Health/Pregnancy certificates for breeding stock are unable to be provided.

The Seller agrees to:

1. Supply a Health Certificate for all animals sold, performed and signed by a qualified Veterinarian. (Pet males/wethers excluded)

2. Supply a Pregnancy Certificate for all pregnant females.

3. Supply all relevant information required and if on record regarding the animal/s, ie, vaccination, worming, mating dates and details, when requested.

4. Inform Vendor to transfer the registration of Alpaca/s to Purchaser and pay the appropriate fee.

5. The Vendor guarantees the fertility of females and males sold as breeding stock. The Purchaser must provide written evidence based on proper investigation by a veterinary surgeon if the Alpaca is infertile. The Vendor reserves the right to also investigate any claims of infertility.

Special Clauses (if required)

  • Upon payment of balance of purchase price, the purchaser becomes the owner and immediately becomes responsible for insurance for normal 14- day contracts.

  • For time payments the purchaser has the responsibility of insurance upon payment of deposit with the insurance to be made out in both the purchasers and sellers names. Upon the final balance being paid the purchaser becomes the legal owner and the insurance policy is to be changed accordingly.

  • All expenses in relation to the above animals are the purchaser's responsibility upon payment of the deposit.

  • Transport is the owner's responsibility.

  • It is recommended that the owner, at own expense, check females for continuation of pregnancy at regular intervals.
